What’s on Weekly is a weekly round up of the whiskey and cocktail events and promotions that are happening across the island of Ireland this week! Daily break down of the specialised events and promotions across the pubs, distilleries and off-licences around Ireland!

Monday – 28th 

Cork – Folkhouse Kinsale Tullamore 1791
Seriously exciting opportunity to those in the Cork area! The Folkhouse are showcasing a
late 60’s/early 70’s bottle of Tullamore DEW for just €6.00 a measure! Coming from the John’s Lane Distillery it bears the distillery’s 1791 date of establishment. This is a very rare opportunity to sample a very rare whiskey at an affordable price!

Galway – An Púcán
A very cool whiskey bar with a equally cool beer garden in the heart of Galway city. They are a mecca for whiskey, cocktails and food in the city.
They are offering 20% off all cocktails Sunday to Thursday all week so get in and don’t miss out! P.S. The whiskey sour is whopper!

Tuesday – 29th

Whisk(e)y Class & Tasting with Fionnán O’Connor.
Delve into the world of whisk(e)y with Fionnán. This week’s class focuses on the different types of Mashbills that are used in the production of whisk(e)y around the world. This is gearing up to be a very diverse line up with some real gems. Definitely an event not to miss!

Galway – An Púcán
Rugby World Cup Competition! In the Rugby World Cup there are 20 teams competing and An Púcán’s impressive whiskey selection boasts a selection of whiskey from 10 of the competing countries. If you can correctly guess all 10 countries that An Púcán have whiskey from you could win a World Whiskey Platter and a meal for two in An Púcán during Sunday’s Ireland vs Italy game!

Wednesday – 30th

Cork – COQBULL

The Cork chapter of the Irish Whiskey Society are proud to announce a whiskey tasting
to beat all whiskey tastings. On the night we will be tasting not one, but five of some of the rarest and finest whiskey’s available in Ireland today:

  • Midleton Rare 2015
  • Irishman Cask Strength 2011
  • Teeling 21 Year Old Limited Edition
  • Connemara 22 Year Old
  • Bushmills 21 Year Old

This is a seriously cool tasting in the southern capital. Make sure not to miss it if you are in the area! The committee from Cork will be leading the tasting. The committee boast years of on trade experience, encyclopaedic whiskey knowledge and even have a distiller from Midleton. Dublin – Liquor Rooms
Cocktails and Architecture at the Liquor Rooms. The Liquor Rooms are sharing the love for architecture with cocktails for thisCocktails+Architecture cool cross over event between the drinks industry and the world of architecture. The night will feature talks on how the Irish drinks industry and architecture have collided. For the first time this year, they are going international with their speakers, George Boyle architect of The Teeling Distillery and Harry Parr from Bompas & Parr, London will give talks on the evening. Free samples, a free cocktail and Propercorn will be on hand to fill the bellies.

The Cocktails+Design talk series at the Liquor Rooms celebrates the partnerships between the drinks industry and design. Cocktails+Design is supported by Irish Design 2015 in collaboration with IDI Design Social and Institute of Designers in Ireland (IDI).

This event is free to attend and open to all. Doors open at 5pm with talks beginning at 7pm. Tickets available here.

Thursday – 1st

The Galway Whiskey Trail and An Púcán are hosting a very special free Bushmills tasting event in the bar from 6.30pm! A great introduction into how single malts in Ireland are produced! Sadly with amazing events like these they sell out fast and this is no exception! Sold out instantly but keep an eye out for any last minute tickets going spare on the Púcán facebook page!

Friday – 2nd 

Dublin – Irish Whiskey Museum

Check out the Irish Whiskey Museum Dublin’s very own whiskey museum! A unique experience in the city centre, over looking the gates to Trinity College. Pop in for a journey through time, where this fantastic museum unveils the intriguing tale of Irish whiskey, from its humble beginnings, its rise to glory, dramatic downfall and of course its current revival. Boasting some of the latest running tours in the city until 8pm! After work/weekend tipple anybody?

Saturday – 3rd 

Dublin – Old Jameson Distillery
Looking for something different to do this weekend? Why not check out the Jameson Barrelman’s Feast? A banquet of food, whiskey and entertainment in the home of Jameson Whiskey. A very cool outting in the centre of the city.

Sunday – 4th

Ireland – O’Briens Wine Off Licence
The bible says that Sunday’s are a day of rest and with all the activity throughout the week why not take a step back and have a quiet tipple at home? O’Briens Off-Licence are currently having a sale on Irish and Scottish whisk(e)y. Pick up a bottle of Glenlivet 12 for only €39 and have a nice tipple with the Sunday roast!
