As the members of the TTB in the United States work furiously to chip away at the label submission backlog of an estimated ten thousand labels, we are starting to see some real gems of Irish whiskeys appear, destined for the US market.
Already we have spotted an Irish whiskey expression that will break the boundaries of maturation expectations, with Glendalough’s 25 year old single malt aged in Irish oak (read more here). Furthermore, independent bottling brand Egan’s have also been quick through the starting line with the approval of two new whiskeys, destined for the US of A.

This year is already shaping up to be a fantastic year for Irish whiskey releases, and we are delighted to see that Dingle Distillery weren’t going to let anyone hold the lime light for long! Dingle Distillery has an incredibly loyal cult following around the world, with members snapping up bottles on the secondary markets for ten+ times their original sale price. 2018 was an exciting year for the distillery. Their single malt batch 3 was released in Ireland and European markets initially and by the end of the year their US fans were delighted to see the bottles on shelves across the Atlantic also. If that wasn’t enough, the coveted Dingle Single Pot Still Batch 2 was launched in the last few months of 2018 and, sold out its allocation in Irish retail stores almost immediately.
Now, fans needn’t wait too much longer because the Dingle Single Malt Batch 4 label has just been approved for US release, which would put its worldwide release date not too far into the distance. No release date has been announced yet, nor an RRP, although, we can tell you that this release will feature malt whiskey that has been matured in ex-bourbon, sherry (we assume oloroso) and port casks. This will be the first release from the distillery which sees a malt aged in all three styles of casks, together. It is bottled at 46.5% ABV and is non-chill filtered.
Keep an eye out for this new release, in your local store later this year!
