As some of you may have heard on last week’s epiosde of Potstilled Live, the Irish Whiskey Musuem are taking their city centre whiskey tours & tastings online with their ‘lock-in’ online tastings that will be taking place weekly on Friday nights from 8-9PM (GMT+1).
This online service offers consumers the chance to have four carefully curataed miniatures delivered straight to their door, in time for the Friday night engagements.
As the spokesperson for the Irish Whiskey Musuem tells us, “Within the current climate, virtual experiences are all the rage and this fits the bill perfectly. As an added extra, since the Irish Whiskey Museum is an Irish owned company, it’s also a chance to support local while having a great night in!“
The Irish Whiskey Museum is an independent, Irish owned company, that is not tied to specific brands, which has been one of the reasons that many patrons have enjoyed the brand free recount of Irishw whiskey history.
The Whiskey Lock-in’s will be hosted by one of their leading in-house specialists. These specialists whom, according to the Whiskey Museum, have deep knowledge of multitudes of different brands, as well as being born storytellers, and the Musuem promises that their specialists will give their guests a fascinating insight into the way whiskey has weaved its way throughout the history of Ireland.
This Lock-in experience is run on Zoom, and it is said to be perfect for whiskey connoisseurs and novices alike, promising something fun & different to do on your Friday nights in!
The experience is priced at €40 plus booking fees, and it includes a 30 minute talk and a 30 minute tasting session of four premium whiskeys dropped to your front door and an Irish Whiskey Museum branded VIP dram glass.
The four whiskeys (which will change regularly) are guaranteed to be heavy hitters in the market. The line-up for the inaugural lock-in last week was Powers Gold, Irishman Single Malt, Connemara Original, as well as a firm favourite of mine, Knappogue 12 single malt.
Tickets for each week’s event can be found on the Irish Whiskey Museum‘s website. Places are very limited to only 20 tickets per session so are likely to sell quickly.
Currently The Whiskey Lock-In experience is only available to people who live within the Dublin area.
However, the Museum plans to offer a nationwide service soon.
