Aldi launches brand new and exclusive Ardfallen Irish Whiskey

Aldi Ireland is set to add to its rota of award winning spirits, with the launch of Ardfallen Irish Whiskey €18.99/70cl on sale today in Aldi stores nationwide. Produced by West Cork Distillers, triple distilled and matured in Bourbon Casks, Ardfallen Irish Whiskey is exclusive to Aldi.
“Developing the Ardfallen blend was a collaborative exercise with Aldi Ireland and we are delighted with the resultant whiskey,” said Kevin Egan, R&D Manager at West Cork Distillers. “Ardfallen is carefully prepared by blending the finest of grain and malt Irish whiskey. The malt fraction is both first fill bourbon and bodega sherry cask matured malt making the blend interesting and engaging.”
Ardfallen takes its name from the area from which the malted barley is sourced in County Cork. The whiskey is crafted in small batches and has been meticulously blended to give an aroma of chocolate, almond and green fruit with a lingering sweetness to the taste and a finish of vanilla and cocoa that ends with a slight spiciness.
Tom Doorley, Aldi’s Drinks Expert said, “From one of Ireland’s exciting newer distilleries comes this traditionally triple-distilled Irish whiskey. Delicate yet spicy, it has aromas of fresh nuts and a hint of apple. Ageing in Bourbon casks has imparted a warm, vanilla, toasty character that tastes round and generous on the palate.”
