The second addition to the Five Elements series, from Powerscourt Distillery, is a limited edition 20-year-old single malt Fercullen.

Following the 2020 release of the first Five Elements, an 18-year-old single malt, Powerscourt’s Master Distiller, Noel Sweeney, has unveiled his latest expression of the series, limited to just 1,500 bottles.

The whiskeys released in the Five Elements series share similar DNA as are all sourced from a single distillery source, they have both featured maturation regiments in both European and American oak casks, and they have been finished in a series of casks and blended by the masterful hand of Noel Sweeney.

That said, this year’s release spent the first 16 years of its life in ex-bourbon barrels before being finished in a series of casks for at least 4 years.  The Single Malt whiskey in these 5 different cask types were expertly combined by Noel Sweeney and is said to form a “complex and distinctive whiskey”.

According to Noel “For our 2021 release of the Five Elements, I wanted to further develop the inimitable composite expression standards set in our first release of Five Elements.”

“Creating the second in our Five Elements series has been a delightful sensory journey and a pleasure to develop. Working to distil, mature, finish, blend and balance this rare composite expression represents years of experience and patience required to bring all the elements together forming something extraordinary”.

Bottled at 46% ABV, non-chill filled, Fercullen Five Elements 20-year-old Limited Edition will be available online at www.PowerscourtDistillery.com

RRP for this edition, limited to just 1,500 bottles, is €220.
