Dick Mack’s Pub in Dingle, County Kerry, is a traditional pub in, what is, the most Westerly town in Europe. While this seems like an unlikely location for a whiskey pilgrimage site, Dick Mack’s, under the guidance of Finn Mac Donnell (and a helping hand from Peter White), has become one of Ireland’s leading whiskey watering holes.

Current Mac and Manager, Finn Mac Donnell, accepting his third consecutive Irish whiskey bar of the year award at the Irish Whiskey Awards

With an eye watering display of whiskey from all over Ireland and Scotland, imbibers are treated to a decadent selection at decent prices, with knowledgeable staff and, honestly, what might make it one of the most unique whiskey bars in Ireland, is that you can have a number of leather items fashioned in-front of you by their in-house leather worker.

Nestled in the heart of the town of Dingle, Dick Mack’s makes a great beginning or end to a hop around the Ring of Kerry or ideally you can take a short walk to the edge of the town to the Dingle Distillery, where some of the most sought after whiskeys in Ireland are produced.

Should that not be enough for you, this forth generation bar also has its own brewery attached, who provide tasty beers or in-depth tours for those inclined!

Listen below to hear how Dick Mack’s came to be one of the top whiskey bars to visit in Ireland and what it means to Finn to be the fourth Mac to manage the family enterprise.
